Cause
The Empty Bowls Kick-Off launches Desert Sun’s 7th annual Empty Bowls & Baskets campaign. It runs November 1 to December 31, 2026, and is built on a simple idea: neighbours looking out for neighbours.
Last year our community raised $73,000, and every dollar stayed right here in Oliver, Osoyoos and OK Falls. Because of that support, seniors gathered for warm, nourishing meals, children woke up to gifts on Christmas morning, women and children found safety and a fresh start, and people of all ages were able to reach out for counselling when they needed it most.
Rising costs keep stretching local households, and the need for our services grows as the year winds down. This year our goal is $100,000. Raffle proceeds support Desert Sun programs, including:
• Safe Home: shelter and support for women and children leaving intimate partner violence
• Counselling Services: accessible counselling for men, women and children
• Food Security for Seniors: Social Meals and Nourish & Nurture
• Youth Programs and Community Kitchen
• Share the Spirit: holiday hampers for local children
Thank you for being part of a community that shows up for one another.
